It’s the transfer rumor mill. Son Heung-min will leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer and Kylian Mbappe will head to Manchester United.
British bookmaker Betfair released its predictions for the summer transfer market on Monday (July 29) using an AI program.
The outlet believes Tottenham will sell captain Son Heung-min to Atletico Madrid for a fee of just €68 million. Chelsea were then expected to sign Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for £60 million, while Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe would join Borussia Dortmund for £50 million. Plus, they said Mbappe would pull off a surprise move to Manchester United, even though he is set to join Real Madrid this summer.
It didn’t stop there. The media also claimed that Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool and sign for Real in place of Mbappe, while Brentford striker Ivan Toney is heading to Newcastle.
It’s extremely unlikely that Son Heung-min will move to another team anytime soon. Son Heung-min has been the centerpiece of Tottenham this season. He was named the new Tottenham captain, and he’s played both up front as a striker and on the wing, providing goals and dedicated playmaking. This season, he scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 35 league appearances, topping the team in both goals and assists.
He also made history. Son surpassed the 160-goal mark for Tottenham, making him fifth on the club’s all-time goalscoring list. He also became the seventh player to reach double figures in the league for eight consecutive seasons, joining Harry Kane, Thierry Henry, Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Sadio Mane, and Sergio Aguero. He also recorded his third career ’10-10′ record, making him sixth in the Premier League.
With his form still on point, there has been speculation about Son’s future, most notably the renewed rumors of a move to Saudi Arabia that surfaced last summer. However, Football Insider reported in 토토 March that “Tottenham will not entertain any offers for Son despite his precarious contract situation. With his current contract set to expire in June 2025, informal discussions are already underway to ascertain Spurs’ interest in re-signing him,” the publication reported in March.
While there has been no news of a new contract, the player’s future has been discussed by manager Enze Postecoglou himself. In a press conference ahead of the last game against Burnley, Postecoglou responded to a reporter who asked if Son was in his plans for the future by saying, “Oh my God, you’re making a bold prediction. It’s a bold prediction that Son will be part of our future! That’s right. He will be part of our future.”
Meanwhile, the outlet’s news reporter Lee Ashley commented, “If the AI gets it right and some of these predicted transfers actually happen, we’re in for an absolutely ‘crazy’ summer transfer window.”
