Veteran Ryu Hyun-jin (36-Toronto Blue Jays) will look for his third win of the season against the Cleveland Indians.
Ryu will start the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series against Cleveland at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on April 27 at 4:07 p.m. ET.
After a long rehabilitation after undergoing elbow surgery last year, 토토 Hyun-jin Ryu has been pitching well since his return.
In his first game back, he gave up four runs in five innings against the Baltimore Orioles on April 2, but lived up to expectations with a four-hit, no-hit shutout in Cleveland on April 8.
In that game, Ryu was hit in the leg by a pitch and forced to leave the game early, but he shook it off and earned his first win of the season with five innings of two-hit (non-decision) ball in his third start against the Cubs.
In his last start, on April 21, Ryu threw five innings of four-hit ball against the Cincinnati Reds, giving up two runs (unearned).
Ryu’s record this season is 2-1 with an ERA of 1.89, and he’s still as competitive as ever despite going under the knife at a young age.
His fastball has slowed down from its peak, averaging just 88.3 mph (142.1 km/h), but he’s still able to dominate opponents with his knife-like delivery.
His trademark changeup is still as potent as ever, 안전놀이터 and he has fully regained the trust of the bench by cooking opponents with a big drop-off curveball that can reach as low as 65.5 mph (105.4 km/h).
Ryu, who is on a roll, will look to make it three wins in a row against Cleveland, who he last faced on Aug. 8. He has plenty of confidence, as he pitched a near-perfect four-hit shutout against the same team.
Furthermore, Cleveland has been in a hitting slump lately.
Aside from outfielder Cole Calhoun and infielder Gabriel Arias, both of whom are batting in the low double digits over their last seven games, there’s not much on the record for Ryu to be concerned about.
It’s important to be cautious, but if Ryu can replicate his performance from the previous game, he could extend his current streak of 14 consecutive scoreless innings.
The team needs a win, too. With a 70-58 record through 25 games, Toronto is in third place in the American League East and fourth in the wild-card race.
With every win crucial to their postseason hopes, Ryu’s shoulders are heavy.
Starting against Ryu will be left-hander Logan Allen. Born in 1998, Logan was called up to the big leagues for the first time this year and has been a steady fixture in the starting rotation, going 6-6 with a 3.31 ERA on the season.
The Toronto offense will need to step up to the plate for Hyun-Jin Ryu, 스포츠토토 who is 2-2 with a 1.96 ERA this month.
