The South Korean bowling team won the overall title at the 2023 International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Championships, collecting a total of four gold medals.
The women’s team, comprised of Jung Down (Daejeon Metropolitan City Hall), Ga Yoon-mi (Yongin City Hall), Kim Hyung-mi (Gokseong County Hall), Baek Seung-ja (Gumi City Hall) and Hong Hae-ni (Seoul City Hall), won the gold medal after defeating Malaysia 2-1 (211-177 169-207 214-203) in the final of the five-man team event at the Kuwait Bowling Sports Club in Kuwait on Friday (local time).
Son Hye-lin (Pyeongtaek City Hall) did not compete in the final for the six-player women’s team.
The men’s team of Kim Kyung-min, Oh Byung-joon (Incheon Transportation Corporation), Kim Dong-hyun, Baek Seung-min (Gwangyang City Hall), Park Kyung-rok (Ulju County Office), and Won Jong-hyuk (Seongnam City Hall) won the silver medal on the same day.
In the five-man team event final without Kim Dong-hyun, they lost to the Canadian team with a round-robin score of 1-2 (221-224 235-207 193-204).
With the victory, Team Korea took home four gold, four silver, and two bronze medals to win the overall title.
The previous day, Jung Daun Kim, Hyun Mi Kim, and Hong Hae Ni won the women’s three-person event, while Kim Kyung Min and Kim Dong Hyun won gold in the men’s two-person final, beating teammates Won Jong Hyuk and Byung Joon Oh.
Hong added another gold medal in the women’s individual all-around, which combines the combined scores of the individual, two-person, three-person, and team events.
Son Hye-lin followed Hong with a silver medal in the event. In the men’s all-around, Kim Dong-hyun finished second overall and took home a silver medal.
Son and Hong also competed in the women’s individual event, reaching the semifinals and taking home a bronze medal each.
The tournament, which was held from April 4 to today, does not hold a separate third-place match, but instead awards bronze medals to athletes who lose in the semifinals as joint third-place finishers. 무료슬롯게임
