South Korean women’s badminton standout Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance) has advanced to the semifinals of the Korea Open Championships 2023.

The world No. 2 defeated Shim Yoo-jin (Incheon International Airport) 2-0 (21-7, 21-6) in the quarterfinals of the tournament at Jinnam Gymnasium in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, on Nov. 21.

Ahn, who will be looking to win the event for the second consecutive year, will face world number three Chen Yuefei (CHN) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Chen Yufei has been nicknamed the nemesis and leads the head-to-head record (10-4).

Their semifinal opponents will be world No. 4 Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara of Japan, who defeated Lee Sohee (Incheon International Airport) and Baek Hana (MG Saemaul Bank) earlier in the day.

In men’s doubles, Kang Min-hyuk-Seo Seung-jae (Samsung Life Insurance) 카지노사이트넷 also punched their ticket to the quarterfinals with a 2-1 (22-20, 18-21, 21-14) victory over Japan’s Keichiro Matsui and Yoshinori Takeuchi.

Meanwhile, women’s singles Kim Ga-eun (Samsung Life) and men’s doubles Kim Young-hyuk (Suwon City Hall) and Wang Chan (Gimcheon City Hall), who had defeated world ranked players the day before to reach the quarterfinals, suffered a setback.

The mixed doubles team of Seo Seung-jae (Samsung Life) and Chae Yoo-jung (Incheon International Airport) also failed to reach the quarterfinals after losing to the Thai team.
